NEW from Webster's Pages: Dream in Color!

Good morning! I hope the new month is off to a great start for you :) I'm checking in today with a couple of projects using the brand NEW "Dream in Color" collection from Webster's Pages! This one just couldn't get any more brighter or happier. What I love so much about Webster's is how their collections always reach my heart. From the images to the phrases to the colors.

"You're My Favorite Work of Art"
I love that realistic imagery like the flower field of this "A Great Pair" paper is mixed in to this collection. It created the perfect backdrop for my always silly little girl :). I toned it down just a bit with some gesso before starting on my layers behind the photo.

The "Tag & Prompt Stickers" are always just what I need for my titles. I've never been good at constructing long titles, so to have one compacted in a pretty little way like this one here is right up my alley.
The mini banner was cut from the "Dream in Color" paper and paper punched.

The "Storyteller Card Sheets" are great for cutting apart and adding to your layering. I also like to cut apart the paper straws like I did here.

Other Products Used:
Blue Fern Studios: chipboard doily
Prima: Flowers, Crystals

Next up, I've got a tag featuring the "Dream in Color" Collection as well!

"Make Today Pretty"
I may have mentioned previously that I'm really in love with purple at the moment- which is weird, because just a couple years back I remember chatting on a scrappy forum about our "nemesis colors"- and for me they were purple and orange. But nevertheless, I really love purple right now. So the "Field of Bliss" paper in this collection was the very first thing I grabbed when setting about making this tag. I love the gorgeous purple flowers with the golden hues against them- simply gorgeous.

I always endeavor to create the perfect bow treatment for my tags to suit the overall look of it. Here I've used some vintage lace along with some gold trim and purple jute twine. The owl charm is an old favorite from Webster's that I've been holding on to for quite some time :).

Again, the Tag & Prompt Stickers came to my rescue for the sentiment on this tag. And this one just so happened to perfectly match this paper ;).
For the backdrop, I used a stunning chipboard piece from Blue Fern Studios. It was first primed with gesso before adding some embossing ink and then embossing powder from Shimmerz. Finally, some favorite new crystals from Prima.

Thank-you for taking a look at my projects today! If you haven't yet, be sure to check out this entire new collection- as well as the other new releases- from Webster's Pages

Take care!

It's a Prima-Style White Wedding: Altered Book Bundle

This week on the Prima blog, it's all about all white, wedding-themed projects! And today I have an altered book bundle that I created as a wedding table piece featuring all white Prima products. It's been quite a while since I've done a monochromatic project, so this one was very fun for me! And Prima has such a great variety of white products to choose from, so creating was a breeze :)

"Altered Book Bundle"
A really fun way to recycle any old book is to create an altered book bundle. I especially love really old hardcover books for this project, but any type of paperback will work too. Simply tear off the front and back covers, including the spine. You can use one or several books in your bundle. Paint the entire surface with a few coats of white paint or gesso. This will seal shut most of the pages; glue can be used to close up any gaps after painting. Use your favorite Prima trims to tie the books together (you might also want to apply some glue between the books to make sure they are secure), then add flowers, embellishments, and bling!

Prima Products Used:

573300- Resin in a Wood Box- Clock
573393- Trim
572068- Wire Thread- Stark White

I hope you enjoyed my project today! Be sure to check out the Prima blog all week long for more wedding inspiration :)

A Layout, a Card, and a Tag~!

Hello :)

I know, I know...I've been a bad blogger. I will try to fix that, but I make no promises ;)~ life is busy, as it is for us all. And I've just been trying to be okay with not getting everything done...so it's not that I'm not around, just...busy. Good news is other than having some strep throat in the house this week, we're good. It's spring break and I've got my oldest home from school all week so I'm remembering what it's like to be a SAHM to three kids on a full-time basis. It's good, though. I think I realize so much more how much I miss him when I get to have him around more like I have this week.

They grow far too fast, don't they?

But let's get down to business. I have three Blue Fern Studios projects to share :)

I'm going to start out today with my youngest, who is growing like a weed like her brothers. She's such a little "cute cute" as I call her. My princess. I wanted to create something fun and sweet as candy- just like her. I had so much fun creating with this adorable "Hello World" line from Webster's Pages, a new release from Winter CHA. I think you will love it :)

"Always"
The large panels available from Blue Fern Studios like this "Number Grid" one are so great for working with 12" x 12" layouts. I like to cut mine up and make them suit my design.

I painted the panel white before randomly dabbing it with embossing ink, sprinkling with Stampendous "Shabby Pink Embossing Enamel", and setting with a heat gun. I love the pretty pink and textured bits splattered throughout the chipboard to mimic my background.

"Different" Card

As like anyone who has ever used chipboard before, sometimes the raw look just suits the project best. Here I've used a few various pieces and have simply dabbed them randomly with a Prima white chalk edger pad before adding them to my project. Combined with some of the more subtle Blue Fern Studios papers, I created a neutral, monochromatic look which I love.

Blue Fern Garden "Love Letters"
Blue Fern Garden "Calling Cards"
Checker Bits
Film Strips
Eclectic Hearts

"Love" Tag
Sometimes downsizing a chipboard piece can give you exactly what you need for a particular project. Here I've taken the middle out of the "Helen's Doily" to beautifully accent this tag. Primed with gesso, covered with a Prima "Shabby Tote" chalk edger pad, and adorned with pearls :) The Blue Fern Garden "Picnic" paper was whitewashed with gesso to make it a little bit more subtle in order to achieve the look I was going for.

That's it for me! I hope you enjoyed :)

Don't forget about our March Sketch Challenge- still plenty of time to play along!

Guest Designer for Tresors de Luxe: Part 2

Good morning :)

I'm finally getting around to sharing my second project created as a guest designer for Tresors de Luxe last month. I hope you've had a chance to check out their store- if not, you can find them HERE.

This time around, I created a card:

"Love"
I really love a vintage, shabby look and the Tresors de Luxe trims are perfect for such a style! I've applied gesso, watercolors, acrylic paint, and mist to the trims on my card and I'm so impressed how they can take such treatment! And because they are so beautiful in themselves, I was allowed to minimize the amount of "stuff" I added to my card. Simple and pretty!

I hope you have a great day. So happy you came by :)...Hopefully life slows down a bit for me here so I can get back to you all. Thanks for your patience :)

It's May Day...Webster's Pages Style!

Happy May Day! It's May 1st in my part of the world, which is also known as "May Day"- and it's ALL about the flowers! So today at Webster's Pages we're sharing some "flowery" inspiration with you :)...

"Adored. Beautiful. Perfect"
My beautiful niece Lilah was the perfect subject for my "floral-inspired" layout. As always, I began with a bit of fussy cutting and let my "clippings" decide the direction of my project. I wanted it to be layered and feminine- something worthy of such a gorgeous photo :)

I've incorporated some of the 6"x6" paper pad elements on my layout, including the bird cage and the green circles from the Modern Romance collection. I like how these smaller images complimented my design.

The butterflies were created by using the "Dream Big" rubber stamp. Aren't they delightful??

You're Invited! {Webster's Pages Style}

Hi there! I'm so excited to start putting an end to the absence on my blog- we've officially survived moving into our new home- amidst two back-to-back snowstorms, and I'm so happy that things seem to be settling down for us. We have plenty of unpacking to do yet- but nothing pertinent and I'm just loving adjusting to our new place.

A few of you know of my no running water, woodsy, wildlife-filled lifestyle- and had asked if that was going to change. Well, we only moved a mile from our other place- and the setting we're in now is even more secluded and we have 8.5 acres of beautiful wooded property to enjoy. What HAS changed, however- is after 2.5 years, we are once again living with running water. And it's AWESOME. Not that living without is not doable- it's just harder. And with three little kids, life is busy and hard enough ;). So we're happy to have that particular convenience of modern living.

But enough with the personal stuff- just wanted those of you who'd inquired to know :).

What really brings me here today is I have a fun project to share with you! All week long on the Webster's Pages blog, we're showing you how to celebrate, no matter the occasion! And since birthdays are the type of celebrations which apply to most of us, I thought I'd put together a fun little invitation for you- and it's so easy, anyone can duplicate it!

"Surprise Party Invitation"
I thought that the Best Friends collection would work PERFECTLY for this project! And just a little bit of fussy cutting brought the whole thing together. In fact, I tend to get my fussy cutting done before starting a project, and then see where each piece fits in. So for the cover, I cut the florals from the BFF's paper and the little girls from the Playmates paper. I adhered them with foam adhesive to add some dimension. Play around with some trims and bling to embellish!

For the base of the invitation, I cut the Checklist paper in half vertically and folded the bottom up and the top down in an envelope-type fashion:

I cut the heart balloon from the Soulmates paper and the "FUN" banner from an older collection, Let's Celebrate. But really- the Playmates paper from which the little girls are cut have a ton of cute little conversation bubble words that would be suiting for this type of project, depending on the content of your invitation.

Finally, the inside. I used the other half of the Checklist paper in here as I thought it would be fun to "check off" the items that apply to your person/party. And of course the specifics of the invite are available on the "You're Invited" card, also from the Let's Celebrate collection. Again, here you could alter according to your own party specifications.

Blue Fern Studios: Making Chipboard the Project Focus~!

Hello everyone! This is a prescheduled post and if all is well, we are currently moving into our new house and I won't be online much- or at all- these next few days. Such an exciting time and I'm SO happy we've finally reached this point. I cannot wait to be settled in and for life to slow down (and stress down) just a bit.

I'm here with you today to show you how to take your favorite Blue Fern Studios chipboard pieces and make them the shining star on your projects. I've got three different examples for you, featuring three different types of projects- all of varying sizes- so you can see how easily you can incorporate our amazing products into whatever you love doing best!

"The Wait is Long"
First up we have an 8"x10" canvas. My inspiration for this piece was the Grand Balloon. And paired with this sweet photo of my son as he patiently awaited a deer to his "stand", I found my match! It was perfect for putting together this whimsical scene and truly does take center stage on my canvas.

For the stars, I used the centers of the Ornate Medallions.

Blue Fern Studios Products Used:

Grand Balloon 075100

Vintage Locks 074783

Ornate Medallions (centers) 074462

"Pixie Tag"
Next we have a smaller piece, a tag. And taking center stage we have one of the Regal Ornaments and Vintage Keys, inked and layered to create a wonderful centerpiece for this feminine project.

I just love the dimension! And so simple to create coordinating pieces with a coverage of chalk inks.

Regal Ornaments 074479

Vintage Keys 075032

"Forever" Card
Finally, I have a "dressed up" card for you! I knew that the Charlotte's Dress Set would be perfect for a wedding card, though I hadn't exactly intended for it to be a Bohemian-style wedding- but that is just the way it goes sometimes, isn't it? :)

I used plenty of fabric, trims, wire, pearls, liquid pearls, and microbeads to bring this dress to life. What would you do with yours??

A Brag Book Mini Album w/Webster's Pages~!

**For my February Giveaway, please go HERE**

Hi~! Today I have a mini album to share with you that I created as a "Grandma's Brag Book" for my mom, featuring all of her grandchildren :). I used the breathtakingly beautiful Modern Romance collection from Webster's Pages to put this mini together. I just love how the bright, cheerful colors enhance the sweet smiling faces within :)~!

"Delight the Heart" {Mini Album}

Since I chose to use the stunning images provided on the Modern Romance "Love Defined" paper, I wanted to keep the cover somewhat simple. So I started by adding the trims along the right-hand edge before using some of the *new* Washi Tapes (the orange is from New Beginnings and the pink is from Sweet Notes) from Webster's Pages to create the banners behind my title. I then used a Blue Fern Studios "Organic Vine" to set the stage for my title.

To dress up the edges of my book, I used the coordinating *new* Modern Romance/New Beginnings Ruffled Bloomer Trims. Aren't they amazing??

How about a peek inside?
To start off this book, I thought I'd begin with a sweet Grandmother's Prayer. I then began by designating a page to each one of my mom's grandkids, starting with my Wyatt :).

On each page I included overlays cut from the Sweet Notes and Composition and Color collections. I like how the pops of black look against all that color :).

I also added a little bit of fussy cut elements here and there, as well as some classic embellishment favorites like the owl charm and the button w/twine :).

I've used washi tapes from all of the new collections throughout this album. Here I've used them to create borders on my pages.

You might have also noticed the cute little bows I used in a couple of different pages, like the brown polka dot bow you see here. These little bow sets are part of the fun & affordable "Quick Picks" program offered by Webster's Pages. See the full collection HERE~!
