C'est Magnifique April Sketch Challenge!

Good morning everybody, and welcome to the month of April! For us, that means the potential of spring weather and MUD! Really, the seasons around here are: Winter, Mud, Bugs, and back to Winter, haha! (But not joking, really!)~ I live 12 miles from town, and the first 7 miles is gravel road- which, at this time of the year when the ground is getting soft, is a horrific muddy mess. Thank goodness for 4-wheel drive!

But anyways, it's exciting to see ourselves inching closer to melting snow and warmer weather :). And to kick off April, we've got a new sketch challenge over at C'est Magnifique Kits! So let's take a look at what I put together this month using the sketch:

"Be You"
Wyatt is my oldest child, and I often struggle with some of his personality traits. He can be very particular, he is extremely intelligent so he's ALWAYS asking questions, and sometimes I catch myself trying to suppress those traits. I think it's because he is SO much like myself. So I just have to remember to encourage these qualities- for it's his curiosity and persistence which allow him to gain his incredible brainpower!
The masculine blues and blacks available in this kit were just perfect for a page about him. I find that as he gets older, I am drifting away from the more feminine colors that were once okay when he was little :)

Here is this month's sketch, designed by the very talented Michele Singh:

Some closeups too!

From the Flower Add-On:
Green Tara: Damask: Cream
Green Tara: Poppy: Black
Petaloo: Darjeeling: Dahlias: Teastained Blues
Prima: Sugar Plum Roses: Eggplant

From the Embellishment Add-On:
Prima: Sunrise/Sunset: Alphabet Stickers
Blue Fern Studios: Floral Clock

We will be offering two prizes, awarded randomly to participants in our Sketch Challenge.  The first prize is this beautiful assortment of paper, embellishments, and chipboard!  The winner of this prize package will also be able to shop in the C'est Magnifique Store, and have their purchases sent with the prize package, so that means you won't have to pay for shipping charges!
Our second prize, a $10 gift certificate to the C'est Magnifique Store,  will be awarded randomly to one of our participants who obviously uses one of our kits to create their Sketch Challenge layout.
We will also chose 5 (or maybe more) layouts to feature on our blog!
And you have the entire month of April to submit your layout.
What do you have to do to enter our sketch challenge?

1.  You must be a follower of the C'est Magnifique blog.  It's easy to become follower -see the left sidebar.

2.  Create a layout using the sketch, and add it to our blog using the Inlinkz tool at the bottom of the sketch challenge post HERE.  Please link to the blog post where you have uploaded your layout  (not your general blog address). If you do not have a blog, you may link to an online gallery.

Deadline for entering the sketch challenge is midnight, April 30 (US time).
We look forward to seeing your layouts!

C'est Magnifique: Final Reveal for August!

Okay, folks- I'm sharing with you today my final August kit projects for C'est Magnifique! I've got two of them for you, to wrap up my five projects for the month :). I've really enjoyed creating with this kit; the patterns, colors, embellishments- they're all SO versatile. Here's a look at both a masculine and feminine take on the kit...

"We Remember Moments"
This kit has an abundance of options for both masculine and feminine projects. Here I chose to highlight the blue/brown/gray shades to create a masculine page for my oldest child, Wyatt. I've used a couple different masks to create the texture and patterns in my background and the quote I've used as my title (which is a rub-on in the kit) really got me thinking...I love that I can look at this picture and remember the special moments we had the day that photo was taken.

"Love"
Here is a feminine take. I can't get over how much I LOVE my daughter's adorable smile and contagious giggles :). The pretty rose and purple shades were perfect for creating a sweet layout for my sweet little girl!

C'est Magnifique: Another Look!

Hi there everyone. I'm hoping this post is being delivered to you via auto post! But if you've ever used Blogger before, then you know that auto post isn't always as reliable as one hopes it to be, lol...

I'm here today to share with you yet another look at the August kit from C'est Magnifique :)!

"A Mother"
I loved this quote and knew I wanted to use it for sure! I've scrapped this photo before, but when searching for some photos of myself with the kids, I realized that I spend almost all of my time BEHIND the camera and have very few :(. Something I will need to remedy!

C'est Magnifique teaming up with Creative Scrappers!

Good morning everyone :). This will be my last "real" post until early next week as we're heading off to visit my husband's family for the week. I will, however, have some scheduled posts going up (hopefully)- so I won't be completely gone :). But- since I have much to get ready yet, I'd better get to it!

C'est Magnifique is sponsoring Creative Scrappers for Sketch #218, and we were asked to use the sketch for one of our projects this month using the beautiful August kit! I was very excited- just last month I wrapped up my term with Creative Scrappers, so I felt right at home working with the sketch :).

Here is what I came up with:

"Diva"
Isn't my niece just way too cute?! Such attitude!

Here is Sketch #218 from Creative Scrappers:

As you can see, I mirrored the sketch. Here are some close-ups for you:

Some of the beautiful flowers in the August kit~ a mix from Manor House Creations, Prima, and Green Tara. There are also some Petaloo sprigs, Prima pins, and Teresa Collins trinkets :).

More pretty blooms. I took a trick that I learned on the Webster's blog recently: you can take a Webster's Pages Princess Petals flower (pink) and blast it with a heat gun to make the layers curl. Unfortunately I cannot remember who stumbled upon this idea, but I know it was one of the Webster's girls. I remembered it and tried it out here- love how it took the bloom from a flat piece to a curled, full one :).

Layers and journaling. I love these two punches- I use them all the time!

I've used one of the KaiserCraft frames, flipped it over, and stamped it to coordinate with the reset of my layout.

Here I used another one of the frames, treating it the same way as the first.

I hope you've enjoyed taking another peek at the August kit. It really is full of delicious patterns and colors~ you really don't want to miss out on this one! You can see how to join HERE. Or you can check out the August section in the C'est Magnifique store HERE. The full kit is not yet available, but some of the individual items are! And while you're there, take a look around- there's still some of the amazing new Manor House Creations flowers left- but they're selling out pretty quickly! And the new Glitz collections-  have you seen them? I just got mine this weekend and they are even more amazing in person!! I just completed my first project using the Cashmere Dame line and it was SO easy to use...can't share it yet as it's for a DT project, but you'll be seeing it around the 1st of the month :).

If you'd like to play along with this sketch, head on over to Creative Scrappers and link up your project HERE!! You will be eligible to win a special prize pack from C'est Magnifique!!

I hope you all have a great week. I will have little or no computer access, but will get back to visiting you all when I get back. Take care!
