Scrap FX: August Reveal #1!!

Hey there everyone!! Hope you're all having a great weekend so far- I'm hoping to accomplish some scrappy tasks- but wanted to make sure I got on here to post my first Scrap FX reveal for August!!

A new month means a new theme at Scrap FX, and this month it’s travel! I’m a bit tied down with having three children ages 4 and under, so I really don’t get to travel much- other than locally. So I decided to create a page about why I love my state- and chose to scrap a photo of my daughter by the lake. The abundant number of bodies of water here has earned Minnesota the title “Land of 10,000 Lakes”~ and it is most definitely one of my favorite things about where I live :).

Let’s take a closer look at the Scrap FX chipboard used in this piece…

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: Scrap FX has a HUGE supply of chipboard titles and I LOVE them!! This particular piece was specially made for me as my state wasn’t included in the available travel-themed wordlets- take a look at the hoard included in the collection HERE.

What travel layout wouldn’t be complete without a compass? I love adding chipboard to my flower clusters and this one fit right in . I’ve simply painted it white before using a flourish stamp over top and inking the edges.

Flourishes like this one (Flourish Z) are a staple for any chipboard stash!

I love the backdrop frames that come in the frame packs (like Decorative Frame A Artsy). They’re perfect for adding that “something extra” to your photos .

Scrap FX Reveal #3

Hi again :). It's Sunday morning here and it's been an interesting weekend. I went raspberry picking a few times on Saturday- stepped on a bee's nest and a red ant nest (miraculously no stings or bites!) and an animal was crashing through the woods that scared me off- BUT- I did manage to come away with enough berries for my first batch of raspberry jam for the year! It was definitely worth it! I'm hoping to get back out this afternoon- checked out another one of my spots with the four wheeler yesterday and it looks ready to go- so I'd like to make a raid! :)

But anyways, I'm back again today to share with you my final project this month for Scrap FX. I've really enjoyed working with their stencils this month, in addition to their amazing chipboard selection. Here's a look at what I put together using both products:

"Pretty as a Picture"

My baby girl Aspen really is a doll!! :) Let's take a little walk-through of my layout...

Absolutely loved this beautiful title piece, “Pretty as a Picture“. I’ve painted it with gesso, dabbed with some rose-colored ink, and then topped off with some white Stickles for a feminine glittery touch . Beneath my title and behind the small cluster, I’ve used the “Flower Pattern Stencil, small” along with some texture paste, which I cut out and placed behind my arrangement.

 This lovely piece is from the “Lamp Shades” pack. I’ve painted it with gesso before topping it off with 3 different inks: rose bud, old rose, and shabby tote, and then finally finished with some Stickles. Add some bling and a couple flowers, and you’ve got one pretty embellishment!

 I’ve used the same stencil in the lower corners and along the top of my layout.

Gotta love frames! These two actually came as a secondary frame in the packs of more “fancy” frames such as the “Decorative Frame C Classic“. These have been painted with a coat of gesso before using a couple different stamps to create the pretty designs you see here. Blings and pearls are all the more I needed .

 Just a closer look at my large flower cluster. Isn't that main bloom beautiful? I won it in a RAK from my Scrappin' Patch teammie Annelie Maddock :).

Guest Designer @ Scrap Africa!

Good morning everybody :). It's an early one for me today- 5:30 AM...my mom called me this morning all excited because after five long days her beloved cat finally came home after getting out of the house and gone missing. This was a huge relief to her- she's owned this cat for 10 years and is like a child to her. So she was so excited that she had to call me! And I'm the type who- if you wake me up- I'm up.

So here we are! But it's okay, I needed to get this post up as my guest designer layout is up at Scrap Africa! After being one of the winners of a challenge the previous month, I was asked to come back and help provide some inspiration alongside their fabulous design team! It's for Sketch #7, and for this layout I decided to go in a different direction and scrap myself. In this photo, I'm out fishing at the lake for the first time this year. I don't know what it is about fishing and hunting, but that time is so peaceful for me. I'm a rather impatient person by nature but for those two hobbies I have endless patience!...

Who doesn't love a delicious flower cluster? Really loving those yellow Melissa Frances sprigs I picked up in the C'est Magnifique store- they're so delicate and pretty!

 Gotta say this is my favorite part of my layout. The frame here is actually a part of a gate chipboard set from Scrap FX (Gates A, large scrolls). I cut it down, painted it with gesso and then with texture paste. Then I took a Prima flourish stamp and some ink to stamp the pattern over the top before finally adding some pearls. The "Moments" title is also from Scrap FX.

 Hidden journaling, as usual! If you're like me, you have a lot to say- and it doesn't always look so great right out there front and center. So I usually stick it on a hidden tag so I don't have to restrict how much I write.

For the textured pattern on my background I used the "Fence Frame" template from The Crafter's Workshop along with some texture paste and ink.
