Prima: Bloom Collection {NEW Winter CHA 2014}

I'm here today with a look at another NEW collection from Prima:

Bloom Collection

Designed by the talented Jamie Dougherty, this collection is bound to inspire your inner artist!

"Inspire & Create" Bloom Book Cover
The Bloom Book is filled with page after page for inspiring and creating your artwork. And of course there are an array of flowers and embellishments to go with it- in a bright, beautiful color scheme you are sure to love!

Here I've used some of the paper from inside the book to create the title for my book cover, along with various background textures and some help from chipboard shapes, flowers, leaves, and more :)

The fabulous bloom girls in this collection are amazing! I loved this confident artsy girl- she just had to take center stage on my cover :). She's way cooler than me- but she gave me the confidence I needed to make my plan come together for this design. :)

"Farm Girl": A Layout for 7 Dots Studio

Good morning!! It's a brand new week, and I'd like to start it off with a project :) I'm up on the 7 Dots Studio blog today with a sweet layout created for my daughter:

"Farm Girl"
love that the Messy Head and Domestic Goddess collections came together here for a super girly layout of my daughter. Fun imagery from Domestic Goddess was paired with the urban elements of Messy Head, making for a truly enjoyable creative experience!

We were also given the opportunity to create with VLV Stamps this month. I had fun scattering the Hearts and Dots background stamp, and using the Film Strip stamp to accentuate the center strip that runs through my layout. Thank-you to VLV for the opportunity to use these amazing stamps!!

7 Dots Studio Products Used:
Messy Head Collection "Love Letter"
Messy Head Collection "Big Words"
Messy Head Collection Elements 6x12
Messy Head Collection Alpha Stickers 6x12
Domestic Goddess "White Apron"

"She's 2!": October Prima ArtZine Layout

Good morning and welcome to the weekend! I hope it's a good one for you- we're supposed to get snow and normally I would complain, but it is rifle season opener for deer hunting and snow is just what we need to get the deer moving :). So that is what I will be up to this weekend!

I thought I would drop in and share with you a layout that I created for the October ArtZine from Prima! I hope you all had the chance to check out the entire issue, but if not, here's a look at the layout that I made as a sample for last month's BAP sketch.

"She's 2!"
This is a photo of course of my cutie pie daughter Aspen on her 2nd birthday. What a fun sketch for this fun picture! I really enjoyed creating with this one. I used a bowl turned upside down to create the half-circles on either side of my layout, traced simply with a pencil. I then used gesso, watercolors, and some stamping to create the details along the edges.

Here's a reminder of the BAP sketch from October:

And a little bit of a closer look at my layout:

I have a bit of a pink and brown fetish. I just love combining warm shades of those colors!

The beautiful "Delight" collection was perfect for my little girl. I've used the daylights out of this collection- and I love it still! A timeless range; Jodie Lee sure knows how to design the best!!

Prima Marketing: Scraplift!

Good morning and welcome!

Today some of the Prima team members are scraplifting a Prima veteran: Felicity Wilson!
Felicity has a fun, textured, layered style and it was a pleasure to lift one of her fabulous layouts :)~ and I certainly hope I did her justice ;)

"Handsome Boy"
Some days, you take out the camera and got nothing. And then others- you get something great. I captured this great photo of Wyatt playing with his football recently- and couldn't wait to scrap it. Such a handsome boy- turning into a little man right before my eyes!

Here is the layout by Felicity which inspired my project:

I attempted to adhere to her overall design and made a few changes to make it "my own". The large pennant was turned vertically to better support my portrait photo, I applied some gesso and masking to my background and kept the banners and title placement.

I added lots of amazing Prima embellishments, both old and new.

Of course I couldn't help but apply plenty of the new Allstar Collection for this sporty photo of my little guy! I love the neutrals in this range- so versatile! And accented by the yellows of the Ladybird collection made it fresh and young :)

7 Dots Studio: October Projects!

I'm back again today :)
(did you miss me? ha!)

I have a couple of 7 Dots Studio projects to share. And they were a challenge (to myself)- no flowers! Uh-oh...
don't worry.
I'm okay with them. Let's see what you think!
"Truth"
I really enjoyed this particular verse and it inspired me to create in my art journal (which I've set aside for a bit lately). It felt good to start and complete a project with no intended direction- I just went with it. And I'm happy. It's real...
genuine...
faith inspired.
I can't ask for anything more!

Messy Head: Elements 6x12
Messy Head: Elements 12x12
All I Ever: Stickers 12x12
All I Ever: Elementals 12x12

Next, a card...and a simple one!
"Something Special"
I started this card with the "You are my whole world." card from the Messy Head collection, and built it from there. I love mixing colors and textures and just seeing where it all takes me. I never really know where I'll end up- and though this card is a bit "tame" for me, I loved it simplicity. Perfect for expressing the message I wanted to convey.

PaperHaus: "This IS My Smile"~!

Good morning! I know I've bombarded you with posts this past week- and it's not letting up yet ;) So bear with me...

At the same time, I've been a bit absent. Still canning away and there are so many projects at hand with winter likely hitting us in a month or so...I'm barely getting by at this point. But thanks for always hanging in there with me, it's truly appreciated.

Today I have a fun layout to share with you that I created for PaperHaus. As I look back on the last several months' worth of photos of my kids, not only is it difficult to find a photo of my Gunner LOOKING at the camera, but it is pretty much impossible to get one of him smiling. He thinks that by my asking him to smile, I somehow mean I want him to show me an open mouth, his teeth, or his tongue- or a combination of all three, ha! But never...never a smile :(. But that's just him- he smiles and laughs all day long- but once that camera is out, it's game over.

SO- I decided to embrace this fault and create a layout about it :)

"This IS My Smile"
I've really enjoyed playing around with layers of different mediums lately! I generally start by placing some paper layers and then applying a coat of gesso. After that- it's game on! On this particular layout, I followed that up by applying (randomly) some blue acrylic paint over top of the gesso. Then came some scattered stamping with distress ink. Next I applied some masking (using light modeling paste) and created some dimension by sprinkling on some embossing powder and setting with a heat gun. On top of that I brushed on some watercolors and just a touch of mist. All set for photo and cluster work!

Product List:

Patterned Papers: Prima Marketing
Flowers: Prima Marketing
Embellishments: Prima Marketing, Melissa Frances
Chipboard: Blue Fern Studios
Letter Stickers: Prima Marketing
Mask: The Crafter's Workshop
Modeling Paste: Golden
Gesso: Pro Art
Watercolors: Luminarte
Other: acrylic paint, paper doily, pearls, microbeads, seam binding, book pages
I hope your week is going well so far. I'm so happy you took a moment to come by- thanks so much as always :)

Blue Fern Studios: Parts & Pieces!

Hey everyone- I'm here today with my last two Blue Fern Studios projects for the month, showing you how to use up some of your bits and pieces for those who like to piece apart your chipboard to make the most of it. We all like our product to go a little further!

For both projects, I've used 7 Dots Studio products as we continue our month-long swap with them. What fun it has been combining them with Blue Fern chipboard!

First up, I have a canvas to share:

"Grown Up"
I had two pieces remaining from the Doily Bunting and Page Chains sets. I made them a part of my mixed media background by applying gesso, tape, and embossing powder over top of them.

Products Used:

Page Chains

Doily Bunting

(7 Dots Studio Products Used: "Messy Head" Collection paper and Elements, "All I Ever" Collection paper and Stickers, "9th Wave" Collection paper, and "Hopefully" Collection Stickers)

Next up, I have a very girly tag :)
"Love Happens!" Tag
For this tag, I took the top section of the Princess Window and one of the Heart Set pieces.

I simply painted the heart piece with gesso to accent the title of my tag. The window piece was primed with gesso before being traced with glossy accents. While the glossy accents was still wet, I sprinkled on broken glass glitter, star sequins, and microbeads.

Products Used:

Princess Window

Heart Set

(7 Dots Studio Products Used: "Messy Head" 6x6 Designer Pad and Elements)

Thank-you so very much for stopping by today! I hope you've had the chance to play along with our monthly sketch challenge- just a few more days left!

See you soon :)
