Webster's Pages: Growing Up Girl!

I thought it would be fun to do a mid-day post featuring one of my favorite Webster's Pages collections:

"Growing Up Girl"

And I'm on a bit of a card/tag making streak, if you hadn't noticed ;). Just loving the smaller projects at the moment...AND I ran out of photo black ink for my printer...but that's beside the point! Ha!

I've got a card and two tags for you:

"A Perfect Moment"
The beautiful floral design in the "Embrace Life" paper was just what I needed for this card. Brandin is a genius at designing her gorgeous collections, and she never fails to give us flowers! Love that :)

Growing Up Girl Sentiment Stickers

I've also featured a couple of chipboard pieces from Blue Fern Studios:
Lace Rounds
Mixed Chains

Other:
Flowers, Clock: Prima Marketing
Vintage lace and seam binding

Next, I have a set of tags that I created earlier this month for Webster's Pages, using once again the beautiful Growing Up Girl Collection...

"Today Was So Exciting" Tag

"Stay True" Tag

These tags are great for attaching to gifts for all occasions! Sweet, simple reminders. I follow a pretty basic plan when I set out on my tags (I have a couple of different tutorials under the Tutorials heading of my blog); the most fun part is picking out the patterns and colors that I want to combine, as well as the fun, pretty details to go with them! Here I've used Webster's Pages trims and embellishments to accent these tags, as well as some pretties from Prima such as the flowers and bling.

Thanks for stopping by on this fine afternoon!

"Just Because. I Love You." ~ March MMM Kit from C'est Magnifique!

Hi everyone!

I sure hope you had a great weekend and are all ready for a new week. Me? Not so ready- but here we are, right?? ;)

Today I'm sharing my final project using the March Magnifique Mixed Media Kit from C'est Magnifique!

"Just Because. I Love You."
I decided to go with a simple yet elegant card to showcase the subtle side of the possibilities with the mixed media kit.

I spritzed the Lindy's Stamp Gang mist and then just a bit of water before dabbing with a wipe to draw up a little bit of the color. I tilted the card just before dabbing to allow the drips to fall a little bit more as seen here.

I've also used the same mist on one of the white flowers to pull the whole look together.

My flower cluster included plenty of layers between the bows and flowers and the chipboard piece which I cut in half before sticking behind the top and bottom of my cluster.

I hope you've enjoyed my MMM projects this month!
And be on the lookout for our next kit to be revealed SOON :)!

Take care,

Two Projects for Blue Fern Studios

Good morning! I hope that your Christmas went well and that you're getting ready to welcome in a new year :). I'm stopping in today to share some classy Christmas cheer with you all, as well as a sweet and simple project too~ both for Blue Fern Studios!

"Let it Snow"
Blue Fern Studios has released some beautiful holiday themed chipboard pieces over the past month or so, as well as some wintry ones as well- simply perfect for this time of year! The "Let it Snow" set includes the title piece and snowflake you see here, as well as a tree and some additional snowflakes. A must-have!

For the frame I first primed with gesso before applying embossing ink. I then sprinkled on some sparkly white and gold embossing powders as well as some glitter and then setting with a heat gun. The snowflake was treated with white embossing powder and set. Finally, the title piece was stamped with chalk ink and sealed with some glossy accents.

Next I have a sweet and simple card for you!

"A Very Good Life"
I love the "Winter Page Dangles", and I have been envisioning creating a tall, narrow card with one for a while now. I wanted to make sure the chipboard piece was the focus, so I kept the rest of my card fairly simple.

I used a white chalk ink before adding embossing ink and glittery white embossing powder to my chipboard. It turned out sparkly and feminine which was perfect for my girly card!

Once Upon A...Sketch December Challenge: Favorite Month!

Hi everyone! I hope you had a great weekend, and to those who celebrate, a great Thanksgiving!

We've just been dumped on with snow, so I thought I'd warm up a bit with a layout I created in my last month designing for Once Upon A...Sketch. I fondly remember back to when it was a goal to be featured at OUAS, and after I managed that, I set a goal to win a challenge, which I did too. I was thrilled! I'd greatly admired the amazing team there and it was such an honor to finally be able to represent this incredible blog with such a wonderful reputation! I truly believe there is not a better challenge blog out there, and so it is sad to say good-bye. But I'm happy to see the incredible lineup of designers who will be joining come January, and I know that OUAS is in VERY good hands :)!

"July"
This month the challenge is to journal about your favorite month. For me, it is undoubtedly July! Summer is finally in full swing during July, and we are always BUSY. The lake is nice and warm for swimming, the gnats have subsided just a little (though mosquitos take over at that point), sunburn, warm evenings, open windows, gardening, four wheeling...I love it ALL. Such an active month for us and we love it!

Here is this month's sketch:

"Creative Memories" {Webster's Pages "Recorded" Collection}

Hi everyone! It's been a long time since I've blogged; a whole week! Sorry for my absence :) Just been busy and I have been creating behind the scenes as always- many things to share, but not quite yet.

I do have a layout to show you today that I created for Webster's Pages using Allison Kreft's "Recorded" Collection. I was inspired to get a little messy and have some fun with this sweet picture of my daughter lost in her painting project. I tried not to think too much about what I was doing {difficult for me- I'm a control freak}, and it probably shows, lol.

"Creative Memories"
Hmm. Still not sure what to think about my horrible gesso background LOL. I had intended to cover a lot more of it up, but it just didn't happen. Let's just pretend it isn't quite so chaotic, okay? ;) I struggle with busy backgrounds and heavily patterned papers, so I had to do what I could to cover it up a little. Hopefully the other business going on can distract a little...or one can hope, ha!

A couple new chipboard pieces from Blue Fern Studios, both the film strip and the title frame. Aren't they awesome? I applied embossing powder and gesso to the frame.

I hung one of these sweet little camera charms in each of my bows. They are simply adorable!
All of the flowers used in this layout are from Prima Marketing, primarily from the Summer CHA 2013 release.

My journaling, which reads:

Today we made finger puppets out of styrofoam balls which first needed to be painted. Your brothers were done painting after 10-15 minutes, but you continued to perfect your work for another half hour or more. I kept asking, "Aspen, are you done yet?" to which I received a soft, simple {yet serious}, "No." 10-31-13

Prima Marketing: Scraplift!

Good morning and welcome!

Today some of the Prima team members are scraplifting a Prima veteran: Felicity Wilson!
Felicity has a fun, textured, layered style and it was a pleasure to lift one of her fabulous layouts :)~ and I certainly hope I did her justice ;)

"Handsome Boy"
Some days, you take out the camera and got nothing. And then others- you get something great. I captured this great photo of Wyatt playing with his football recently- and couldn't wait to scrap it. Such a handsome boy- turning into a little man right before my eyes!

Here is the layout by Felicity which inspired my project:

I attempted to adhere to her overall design and made a few changes to make it "my own". The large pennant was turned vertically to better support my portrait photo, I applied some gesso and masking to my background and kept the banners and title placement.

I added lots of amazing Prima embellishments, both old and new.

Of course I couldn't help but apply plenty of the new Allstar Collection for this sporty photo of my little guy! I love the neutrals in this range- so versatile! And accented by the yellows of the Ladybird collection made it fresh and young :)

7 Dots Studio: "Memories" Challenge

It's time to reveal the newest challenge over at 7 Dots Studio. And this time around, it's all about the "Memories"...however you would like to interpret that...whatever it inspires.

For me, it triggered the need to scrap about my dad. Most of you know that I lost him when I was 13 years old and it is a loss which I still struggle with to this day...and never gets easier. But taking the time to scrap about him gives me the opportunity to reflect on my memories of him; the type of person he was, his funny personality, what a great dad he was- despite his downfalls. I try my best to hold on to the good memories and cultivate them so that I can one day share them with my children...

"Remember Forever"
I found comfort in the warm, rich fall colors inspired by the changing season upon us. Red is most certainly not my usual color, but it was okay here. I accepted it and went forward :)

I began with the Domestic Goddess collection, which I've loved since the day it was released! Such a beautiful line!

I am loving playing with texture and color. So rewarding :)

I've discovered that I love book pages once again. I used to use them all the time...then not at all...and again I find myself reaching for them every time. So watch out...when an obsession strikes, I can't help myself!

Take care and have a GREAT weekend!!

Prima "Pin Spin"

Good morning! Today I have a fun project to share with you that I created for the Prima "Pin Spin" day. What we do here is find a pin on Pinterest and draw inspiration from it. Being a lover of Pinterest, this one was no problem whatsoever ;). I have a "Pretty Things that Inspire" board where I pin photos of varoius things that I feel might come in handy if ever I'm in a creative rut. So I headed right for that board and was inspired to create this canvas for my daughter :)

"You're Cute"

Here is my inspiration photo from Pinterest:

I was just completely inspired by this GORGEOUS color palette! Brights mixed with pastels- I couldn't think of a better combo. And the balloons encouraged me to add that "something extra" to this canvas that I might not normally do. Just a great all-around jumpstart for me.

I couldn't resist this title. I swear, I say "You're CUTE!" about a thousand times a day in an obnoxious baby voice LOL! Perfect- and I can hear myself saying it when I see this canvas. A great way to capture a memory :).

The balloons were created from cardboard and covered with gesso; masked with modeling paste, watercolors and beads on top. Just hand-cut pieces- no need to be perfect :)

Prima ArtZine {August Issue} Projects

Hello everybody :). It's been a little quiet around here, yes I know. We're still busy, busy at home- new animals, hunting season, canning, the works- but I thought I'd pop in here and share the two projects that I had published in the August issue of the Prima ArtZine.

First up, a layout that I created for CHA using the popular Anna-Marie Collection:

"Daydream"
The color palette was inspired by the August PPP which was perfect for using this collection. I loved how the black and white photos looked against these bright colors. All of the papers, flowers, stamps, mask, embellishments {except the title stickers}- they are all from the Summer CHA 2013 release.

Once Upon A...Sketch: September Sketch Challenge Reveal!

Good morning!

It's time to reveal to you the latest challenge over at Once Upon A...Sketch!

As you know, every month OUAS provides you with not only an amazing sketch, but a motivating journaling prompt. This month is no different- just take a look at what you've got to work wtih!

Journaling Theme: Luck

Your layout must incorporate this theme and the sketch below.
Please make sure that we see some sort of journalling on your layouts and please tell us where your journalling is . You are allowed to journal in any language but please tell us where on your page we will find your journalling. Remember journalling has to be a bit more than a title, or a generic comment. Hidden journalling is perfectly fine.

I created a layout sample for this challenge. When I first saw the sketch, I thought- OOH! Three photos...three kids...I know how lucky I am to have them. Even printed pictures of the kids and was ready to start. But then I thought of how much time I've spent recently reflecting on what an amazing husband I have- and it's been a while since I've scrapped him, so I went that direction instead ;)

"Lucky Me"
I have the perfect package of a husband: loving, hard working, funny, patient, amazing father, understanding...I really wish for everyone to find someone like him. Before him, I thought it was normal to fight and say terrible things to one another. But in our almost 7 years he has never said anything even remotely mean to me- and I don't even think we've ever had a real "fight". We've bickered a few times- but he is so laid-back (whereas I'm NOT) and when I get piped up, he just stays calm. As I was creating this layout, I had a particular Martina McBride song stuck in my head. There's a line in it that says:

"When there's dark clouds in my eyes, he just sits back and let 'em roll on by. Come in like a lion, go out like a lamb...my baby loves me just the way that I am."

SO true for Josh and I! I'm the hot head- and he accepts and loves me for it regardless.

When choosing the color pop for this layout, I'd originally thought blue. Josh peeked in a few times to see what I'd decided on, and was surprised to see I'd gone with yellow. I figured I haven't used it in a while, so why not?

I've used just a ton of Prima products on this one- even digging in my stash for some of the older stuff. The stamps are from the Printery collection, which is one of my all-time favorites. And what do you think of the new Ingvild Bolme pieces? I just LOVE the little steering wheel from the Car Parts pack- way too adorable!

 891855- Ingvild Bolme- Car Parts

Oh, Josh desperately wanted me to use one of the spark plug pieces- he thought they were manly enough for him ;) And I wanted to do that for him...but I just couldn't find the "right" one/fit. But when I noticed the word "Luck" on one of the Vintage Water Taps- I knew I had the perfect embellishment!

891824- Ingvild Bolme- Vintage Water Taps

**All papers, flowers, and embellishments**

**Domestic Goddess Tags**

As always, there are tons of prizes to be won- see the OUAS blog HERE for full details!

Deadline for this month's challenge: September 25th Australian Eastern Standard Time
