7 Dots Studio: October Projects!

I'm back again today :)
(did you miss me? ha!)

I have a couple of 7 Dots Studio projects to share. And they were a challenge (to myself)- no flowers! Uh-oh...
don't worry.
I'm okay with them. Let's see what you think!
"Truth"
I really enjoyed this particular verse and it inspired me to create in my art journal (which I've set aside for a bit lately). It felt good to start and complete a project with no intended direction- I just went with it. And I'm happy. It's real...
genuine...
faith inspired.
I can't ask for anything more!

All I Ever: Stickers 12x12
All I Ever: Elementals 12x12

Next, a card...and a simple one!
"Something Special"
I started this card with the "You are my whole world." card from the Messy Head collection, and built it from there. I love mixing colors and textures and just seeing where it all takes me. I never really know where I'll end up- and though this card is a bit "tame" for me, I loved it simplicity. Perfect for expressing the message I wanted to convey.

Webster's Pages: Tags!

After harassing you all with post upon post, I took a few days off from blog world- but I'm back ;)
I have a couple of Webster's Pages projects to share with you; a couple of tags created using some of the new Clean & Simple lines. I hope you enjoy them!

"Not Afraid to Change"
I have been closely studying the Bible for the last year, and I'm finding that the more I read, the more I learn, and the more I'm discovering the things in my life that need to change in order to walk hand in hand with God's will. So when I saw this sentiment in the New Year, New You collection, I just knew I needed to create something as a positive reminder of my journey in faith and of its importance- and that, truly, I am not afraid to change!

I am just drawn to the bright, cheerful colors in this collection! So versatile! And simply perfect for inspiring important admonitions :)

Products Used:

"Everyday Life"
Next we have a tag that I created using the popular Recorded collection.
I loved the teal/brown colors and put them together with the Princess Window piece from Blue Fern Studios to create a sweet framed photo project of my kids at the lake. I love that outdoor adventures are a part of our everday life :)

I'm a sucker for layers (you probably know that by now)- I used plenty of Webster's Pages trims, papers, and even a sweet little charm to do up the bottom of my tag.

Charm Bulk- Butterfly
Perfect Charm Pack
In Love Trim Card Pack

Thank-you for coming by today.
See you back tomorrow with some new projects!

October Sketch:
Fun, isn't it?!
This sketch- as always- could easily be rotated or mirrored. We would love to see your take on it!
-and don't you worry if you don't have the chipboard pieces featured in the sketch- feel free to interpret it as you like with whatever you have :)
As always, we've got a great grab bag of chipboard for one randomly chosen participant:

In addition to our prize winner, we will also select a Top 3 to feature in our winner post!
We have just a few simple rules to follow if you would like to participate in our sketch challenge:
1.) Feel free to interpret the sketch as you please by means of taking it as-is or flipping/turning/mirroring it to suit your needs! **Please note that you can do whatever type of project you please- a layout, card, tag, canvas, altered item- whatever suits your mood and style! We would love to see the different ways our sketch can be used.**

2.) You must use at least one piece of Blue Fern Studios chipboard- but you do not need to use the pieces featured in the sketch! You can find the store nearest you HERE. {Do not use any other brand of chipboard on your project please!}
** We had a couple entries last month who did not use chipboard, so please note this step as you will be disqualified from the prize drawing and features**

3.) Upload your project using the Inlinkz tool at the bottom of the sketch post HERE by midnight EST on October 31st, 2013.
We look forward to your entries!

PaperHaus: "This IS My Smile"~!

Good morning! I know I've bombarded you with posts this past week- and it's not letting up yet ;) So bear with me...

At the same time, I've been a bit absent. Still canning away and there are so many projects at hand with winter likely hitting us in a month or so...I'm barely getting by at this point. But thanks for always hanging in there with me, it's truly appreciated.

Today I have a fun layout to share with you that I created for PaperHaus. As I look back on the last several months' worth of photos of my kids, not only is it difficult to find a photo of my Gunner LOOKING at the camera, but it is pretty much impossible to get one of him smiling. He thinks that by my asking him to smile, I somehow mean I want him to show me an open mouth, his teeth, or his tongue- or a combination of all three, ha! But never...never a smile :(. But that's just him- he smiles and laughs all day long- but once that camera is out, it's game over.

SO- I decided to embrace this fault and create a layout about it :)

"This IS My Smile"
I've really enjoyed playing around with layers of different mediums lately! I generally start by placing some paper layers and then applying a coat of gesso. After that- it's game on! On this particular layout, I followed that up by applying (randomly) some blue acrylic paint over top of the gesso. Then came some scattered stamping with distress ink. Next I applied some masking (using light modeling paste) and created some dimension by sprinkling on some embossing powder and setting with a heat gun. On top of that I brushed on some watercolors and just a touch of mist. All set for photo and cluster work!

Watercolor Fun! With Prima & Pink Paislee~!

Did you see over on the Prima blog that they've teamed up with Pink Paislee for some Watercolor Fun?! Both the Prima team and Pink Paislee team got to play with one another's projects- which was SUCH a treat!

If you love giveaways- then get in on the action! Head on over NOW before it's too late- winners will be announced September 30th :)

Here is a canvas that I created for this event:

"Cute Stuff"
Prima and Pink Paislee products blended together beautifully for me on this canvas. I was inspired by the soft pastels of the Pink Paislee Color Wash products which set the tone for this project featuring my sweet little niece Paisley. I wanted something girly, yet still "baby"-ish, which inspired the pretty florals, banners, and dressed-up ballet slippers.

Blue Fern Studios: Parts & Pieces!

Hey everyone- I'm here today with my last two Blue Fern Studios projects for the month, showing you how to use up some of your bits and pieces for those who like to piece apart your chipboard to make the most of it. We all like our product to go a little further!

For both projects, I've used 7 Dots Studio products as we continue our month-long swap with them. What fun it has been combining them with Blue Fern chipboard!

First up, I have a canvas to share:

"Grown Up"
I had two pieces remaining from the Doily Bunting and Page Chains sets. I made them a part of my mixed media background by applying gesso, tape, and embossing powder over top of them.

Products Used:

Page Chains

Doily Bunting

(7 Dots Studio Products Used: "Messy Head" Collection paper and Elements, "All I Ever" Collection paper and Stickers, "9th Wave" Collection paper, and "Hopefully" Collection Stickers)

Next up, I have a very girly tag :)
"Love Happens!" Tag
For this tag, I took the top section of the Princess Window and one of the Heart Set pieces.

I simply painted the heart piece with gesso to accent the title of my tag. The window piece was primed with gesso before being traced with glossy accents. While the glossy accents was still wet, I sprinkled on broken glass glitter, star sequins, and microbeads.

Products Used:

Princess Window

Heart Set

(7 Dots Studio Products Used: "Messy Head" 6x6 Designer Pad and Elements)

Thank-you so very much for stopping by today! I hope you've had the chance to play along with our monthly sketch challenge- just a few more days left!

See you soon :)
