June MMM Kit!

Good morning, everyone :)

It's time for another look at this months Magnifique Mixed Media Kit from C'est Magnifique! Kelly showed you a layout and accompanying video just a little while back {see it HERE if you missed it}, and today I have a layout to share as well.

"Bliss"
As you know, this kit is full of bright, tropical colors! I thought I would go for a fun background using the fabulous Gelatos pack included amongst this month's mediums.

I chose a pretty neutral background paper so the colors would really stand out. And all I did was take a stencil and, with one color at a time, scribbled over the stencil and used my finger to blend in the color over the pattern of the stencil, working in somewhat of a V-shaped pattern over my entire page.

I started with the pink, moved on to the purple, and then the blue (which gave me a darker purple when mixed with the other colors). I loved the succession of coordinating colors that this gave me.

I then set about my clustering and photo layout. I didn't want the color to completely overwhelm my project, so I took advantage of some of the more neutral possibilities in the kit, such as the Jutes flowers, wood pieces, and Blue Fern Studios "Techno Rings" chipboard pieces (leaving them raw).

Here's another look at this month's MMM Kit:

Believe it or not, there are still a few of these left in the store- so get one before they're gone!

"Remember This Moment": May MMM Kit

It's my turn today to share with you my first project using the {SOLD OUT} May Magnifique Mixed Media (say that 3 times fast!) Kit from C'est Magnifique

The gorgeous pastels and fresh spring colors arrive just in time!

"Remember This Moment" Card
Could pink and yellow together be any more pretty??

The die cuts and wood embellishments in this kit offers endless layering possibilities.

For the base of this card, I used a palette knife and scraped on some of the 13 Arts "Matte Lemon" acrylic paint randomly over the background.

Then I unscrewed the sprayer from the bottle of the 13 Arts "Pastel Yellow" mist and flicked mist splats using the straw of the sprayer.

For the textured detail here, I used the Tim Holtz mask with some modeling paste, covered with the Stampendous Shabby Pink Embossing Enamel, and set with a heat tool.

I hope you've enjoyed this first look at this amazing kit!

The April MMM KIt~!

Good morning!

Today I'm sharing with you my first project using the Magnifique Mixed Media kit for April from C'est Magnifique Kits. My sister Kelly recently shared a fabulous video with you featuring this kit. I hope you had a chance to check it out! If not- see it {HERE}.

My layout today features papers from the main kit, as well as plenty of goodies from the MMM kit.

"Snow Queen"
I adore this color palette against this rustic woodgrain paper. The tags and wood embellishments, along with the flowers allow for plenty of nice layering opportunities and interesting details.

I started out my layout with my masking. I used the stencil from the MMM kit along with some modeling paste to create the vertical designs seen on either side of my page. Topped with some of the Lindy's Stamp Gang embossing powder and set with a heat gun, my masking was complete.

Next came misting and mist splats. I love the almost tea-stained effect this mist creates.

Masking tape and washi tape were the first layers I created atop my masked areas. They set the feel of the design for me.

Torn paper layers and doilies interchanged with flowers, tags, and wood icons created plenty of dimension while keeping the attention on this sweet photo of my daughter :)

"Just Because. I Love You." ~ March MMM Kit from C'est Magnifique!

Hi everyone!

I sure hope you had a great weekend and are all ready for a new week. Me? Not so ready- but here we are, right?? ;)

Today I'm sharing my final project using the March Magnifique Mixed Media Kit from C'est Magnifique!

"Just Because. I Love You."
I decided to go with a simple yet elegant card to showcase the subtle side of the possibilities with the mixed media kit.

I spritzed the Lindy's Stamp Gang mist and then just a bit of water before dabbing with a wipe to draw up a little bit of the color. I tilted the card just before dabbing to allow the drips to fall a little bit more as seen here.

I've also used the same mist on one of the white flowers to pull the whole look together.

My flower cluster included plenty of layers between the bows and flowers and the chipboard piece which I cut in half before sticking behind the top and bottom of my cluster.

I hope you've enjoyed my MMM projects this month!
And be on the lookout for our next kit to be revealed SOON :)!

Take care,

The March MMM Kit: A Reverse Canvas

Hi everyone :)

I'm here with you today to share a project using the March Magnifique Mixed Media kit from C'est Magnifique. This kit is like a breath of fresh spring air- and just in time.

I thought I would help you out with an idea as to how to put the cute little glass bottles included in this month's kit to use. I decided on a reverse canvas as the wooden stretcher bars were the perfect little shelf for my bottles to sit on :).

"Make Someone Happy Today" Canvas
I used the blue Pearlescent Liquid Acrylic ink to decorate the blue bottle. Simply squeeze a couple of droplets inside, replace the cork, and give it a shake. The inside of the bottle will be coated in ink, giving it a nice and even coloring. I dabbed the outside of the bottle with gesso before securing some sticks with jute twine. The green bottle was first painted with gesso before spraying the outside with the Lindy's Stamp Gang "Edelweiss Moss Green" mist included in the kit.

A hot glue gun was all I needed to secure these bottle in place.

The Blue Fern Studios chipboard was decorated with a variety of colored microbeads.

Twinkling H2Os, including the "Blue Grass" and "Pear Blossom" in the kit helped decorate the edges of my canvas. Simply apply randomly using your fingertip.

I've used vintage book pages to cover the frame. They've been painted with gesso and stamped (with the stamps included in the kit) with distress ink.

The Cosmo Cricket mini word stickers made for quick and easy titling!

One Final Look @ the February MMM Kit!

Good morning :)

I'm here with you today for one more final look at our {SOLD OUT} February Magnifique Mixed Media Kit from C'est Magnifique!

"This Makes Me Smile" Journal Cover
Collage work is so much fun...and easy. This kit provided so many fun paper embellishments that were simply perfect for this type of project. Most of the Prima cards seen here were cut in two or more pieces and layered throughout the cover.

I've used the stencil included in the kit and some chalk ink to create the flourished masked areas seen here. I've also applied both the Shimmerz paint and Twinkling H20s along the edges, touched by a dab of the Tim Holtz Distress Paint for depth. {I use my fingertip to apply}.

I love ready-made titles :). And this Prima Paintables card was perfect for titling a journal cover.

There really isn't a science behind the layers. Just do what feels right- I've said it before and I'll say it again: there's no wrong way to collage. Really. Just try it!

Thanks for joining me today for one more look at our February MMM kit. Stay tuned for the reveal of our March MMM kit coming up SOON.

Take care!

February Magnifique Mixed Media Kit~!

Good morning!

I'm so excited that I can finally share with you my first project using the {SOLD OUT} February Magnifique Mixed Media Kit from C'est Magnifique! It's such a joy putting these together each month, and just as much so creating with them.

Today I have a special canvas to share with you; a reminder to myself to cultivate the fruits of the spirit. For me, visual reminders are a must and creating something about which I feel passionate makes for a great project. I really loved putting this together :)

"Fruits of the Spirit" Canvas
This kit had so many fun things to choose from, and the color palette is simply awesome :)

I used book pages to create the distressed, torn layers like you see on the bottom of the canvas here. I highlighted them with the Magenta Shimmerz and Pink Azalea Twinkling H20's.

The fussy cut flowers were trimmed from one of the Prima Paintables cards.

My title was cut from one of the Prima Chalkboard cards, with details cut from the We R Memory Keepers cards and the backdrop from one of the Manor House Creations papers included in the main kit. Underneath you can see just a hint of the Pink Azalea Twinkling H2O's. I've added jute twine and gold thread from my stash.

Fussy cut butterfly courtesy the Prima Paintables.

I've used the KaiserCraft clear stamp along with some distress ink and stamped it randomly throughout my canvas.

Finally, the Splash of Color Modeling Cream and ColorBox stencil worked together to add some beautiful detail. The Ranger "Scattered Straw" Distress Paint was easy to dab on for additional color.

Here's another look at the complete February Magnifique Mixed Media Kit:

"Dream" Layout: January MMM Kit

Hello everyone :).

I'm here with you today with one more look at our
{SOLD OUT
January Magnifique Mixed Media Kit from C'est Magnifique

"Dream"
When it comes to mixed media, you don't always have to go big and bold- even if the colors are as rich and beautiful as the ones in this kit. I chose to dilute the color of the "Raspberry Wine" Silks with some gesso to create the perfect purple/pink shade subtly seen beneath my masked areas.

Using a wide spatula, I scraped the Silks vertically, up and down my page.

I then diluted the "African Jade" Silks {again with gesso} and applied just a small amount over the "Raspberry Wine" areas, just as a highlight {seen bottom left}. I wanted to maintain a soft, dreamy feel to my layout.

The other half of my Blue Fern Studios "Ruth's Doily" {leftover from my canvas project} can be seen beneath my photo.

One last look at the January MMM Kit:

Don't miss out on the next one {to be revealed in just a few days!}, see how to Join {HERE}.

Have a great weekend!

January Magnifique Mixed Media Kit

Good morning! I have for you today a project that I created using the January Magnifique Mixed Media Kit from C'est Magnifique. I decided to use the 5"x7" canvas that comes with this kit and create a simple, pretty piece for my wall. I hope you like it :)

"Winter's Thaw"
I was inspired by the cool, wintery blues in this kit and feel that the pretty pinks are the perfect offset to them. It made me think of winter turning into spring, which is what I was going for here in this canvas.

The Primary Elements are very easy to control. You start by putting some of the Acrylic Glaze into a dish and add a very small amount of the Primary Elements powder. Continue adding until the desired depth of color is reached. I simply used my finger to apply, blending into the canvas along the edges and over the subtly masked area. Get creative and experiment! What's great about canvas is if you make a mistake, simply throw some gesso over it and start over! ;)

I loved using the "African Jade" Silks for a brighter splash of color. I prefer to use more saturated colors sparingly, to draw the eye but not take over. Apply them beneath clusters and other elements on your project.
