One more look at the September Kit (C'est Magnifique)

Good morning! Hope you're all more awake than me today, lol! I stayed up late last night working on a project and dealing with nuisance bears (mom and cub) tearing apart my garbage can/garbage. From about 10:30 PM- 11:30 PM I watched/yelled at them. Unfortunately, they weren't really all that concerned with me. So my poor husband had to clean up the mess this morning before work. And then my 2-year old was up at his usual 6:00 AM time...and I could really use more sleep.

BUT- I have some time to put together a blog post and show you the last of my projects for C'est Magnifique this month! We've revealed the entire September kit, featuring papers from Riddersholm Design (Denmark), and here's what more I have to share with you :)...

"Free Bird"
This layout was inspired by Maya Angelou's "I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings". My sweet little girl is already such a free spirit, always happy, endlessly sweet. So naturally I used the "bird" elements in this kit, including the paper, bird cage, and wooden embellishment. I had a lot of fun playing with the background, adding layers of masking with texture paste topped off with embossing powder, and the Lindy's Stamp Gang mist provided in the main kit. I wanted to create something playful and fun, just like my little Aspen :).

"The Heart Sees"
I really enjoyed combining the many colors in the kit on this one, especially the rust tones. I used the mist from the embellishment add-on to darken the peach flowers a bit to better coordinate with the rest of the elements on my layout, and really love the result :)...

Final Scrap FX Reveal for August!!

**Just a couple days left to enter my August giveaway! See HERE for details!!**

Hi everyone! I truly cannot believe that August is almost at an end...I know everyone is saying that...but seriously. Can't believe it. This time of year I definitely find myself rushing out the door as often as I can- hopping on the 4-wheeler, taking the kids out, soaking up the last of the summer while I can. Just two nights ago, Josh and I took the kids out to the gravel pit near our house at about 7 PM as it was just a gorgeous night. My two boys were racing each other around the pit and as I was taking a little video, it struck me that just a year ago I took the boys out to the same pit, during this same week, and the weather was just as it was the other night...perfect. It was a sentimental evening as the next day I would be leaving to go and stay with my sister to wait to go into labor with Aspen. And a week from today, she was born. It was strange to think how much my boys have grown in that time...and a bit sad. But a good sad, I guess...:).

And today, I have a layout and a card to share with you- the layout features photos of my younger son Gunner, exploring this same gravel pit a couple of months back. I have a lot of memories of this place- going back to when I was about 13 years old when we moved to this part of the county. I remember when I was about the age of 15 and my sister (Kelly Foster) and I would take my mom's 1985 E-350 van (which I often called the "cardboard box") out to this same pit. I was new to my driving permit- and so this was even more fun to do! We'd put in an old Willie Nelson tape, throw on the orange hunting vest and hats that were in the van, and just go tearing down the muddy, pot-hole filled road (more like a trail, lol) and whip donuts in the poor old van. Sure was a blast.

BUT!~ I'm getting sidetracked and we have a lot to cover- so enough "cruising" down memory lane! My two projects today are for Scrap FX, and the theme this month is "travel". As I've mentioned before, with three little kids we just don't do a lot of traveling, so I incorporated some of these new release pieces into some "local" travel work :). The first is my layout of Gunner:

"Nature"
To be honest, I was at first really unsure about not only mixing a sepia photo with a color photo, but also about using a color photo with bright orange in it, lol. But in the end, I enjoyed the contrast and think it worked out okay :).

There’s just no competition for the titles available from Scrap FX! I’m sure I say it every time, but I just LOVE them. Here I’ve used my finger to unevenly coat my title with gesso before applying a sandy shade of ink to blend with my layout. I’ve also added Stickles and bling to the flowers on this beautiful “Nature” title.

I’ve created a pretty little embellishment out of this piece from the “Railway Station Pack“. After painting with gesso, I stamped the flourish vine and added this pretty little cameo.

I wrote my journaling on this pretty new journaling tag pack, “Journal Notes KRAFT“. I’ve again painted it with gesso, inked and stamped along the edges, and added a small cameo as a pull tab. I’ve also used the little fan out of the “Asian Embellishments” pack to add interest to my cluster.

Additional Supplies Used:

Prima Marketing "Rondelle" Patterned Papers (available @ C'est Magnifique HERE)
Prima Marketing Flowers (also available @ C'est Magnifique HERE)
Jolee's Boutique Adhesive Cameos
Melissa Frances Pearls
KaiserCraft Bling
Prima Marketing Chalk Fluid Edger Pad "Dry Sand"
Ranger Stickles
gesso, seam binding

NOW- let's take a look at the card I created with this month's theme:

"Adventure"
I have to say- this card went together rather quickly and I think it's my favorite card to date. I was just having "one of those days"- where everything just seemed to fall into place!
I love small titles like this one, from the “Camping Wordlet Theme Pack“. They’re perfectly suited for a card. The railroad track and sign are from the “Railway Station Pack“- perfect little additions to support a travel-themed card. And finally, another tag from the “Journal Notes KRAFT” pack adds the perfect backdrop for my title. All pieces have been painted with gesso, inked and stamped for a beautiful coordinating piece.

Prima Marketing "Nature Garden" Patterned Papers
Prima Marketing Flowers
Prima Marketing Resin Sparrow
Prima Marketing Chalk Fluid Edger Pad "Dry Sand" & "Shabby Tote"

Wow! That got to be quite a post- thanks for sticking around for the whole thing. I know it's a lot to look at, but I do love that you look :). And that wraps up the month of August at Scrap FX! As always, I like to direct you to my FAQs tab at the top of my blog, where you can find a list of online stores currently carrying Scrap FX products. I do try to have a look around at least once a month and add to the list- more and more stores are picking up these amazing products- NO surprise ;)!!

I hope you've had a great start to your week...I'll be seeing you soon, take care!!

Webster's Pages Mixed Media!

**For my August giveaway, please go HERE**

Good morning, sweet friends!! I've got a post up at the Webster's Pages blog for the first time, and let me tell you- THAT is exciting!! I got to work with their beautiful new Park Drive collection, and decided to go in a different direction with it, using an 8x10 canvas. I've also put together a little tutorial for you to give a little insight into how I achieved my background.

Let's take a look...

"The Eyes Have It"
I really had a lot of fun putting this one together. Sometimes it's just liberating to let yourself go and do whatever...and truly, Webster's Pages products are PERFECT for a mixed media project like this one. Here's some step-by-step instructions for you if you're interested:

Step 1: Mix red and pink gelatos together, applying color to the edge of the canvas. Spritz the canvas with water and use your finger to blend colors together.
Steps-1_close
Step 2: Apply gesso. I simply scooped some up with a folded scrap of photo paper and scraped it across the canvas. Some punched bits of paper got mixed in with the gesso, but the smattering of confetti was okay by me :).

Step 3: Lay a mask across the top of your canvas and spritz brown mist, then pink mist over it. Do this at the top left and bottom right corners. This gives your canvas a bit more depth and dimension. (And any mask will work well!)
Steps2_web
Step 4: Add papers! I hand-cut a section of this paper:

Websters_parkdrive_classic2Then I crumpled the paper and then added it to the canvas. Next, I cut the hot air balloon from the B-side of th paper along with some of the flowers on THIS SHEET, our Margaret paper. A few banners, a touch-up of gesso and the canvas is photo ready.

Close_web
I loved this little quote from Air Supply - sometimes I just like to sit and peruse the internet for quotes and poetry related to kids...just to get me thinking, and to remind myself of how fortunate I am to have three little ones to call my own :).

Step Five: Add some texture paste to the upper right and lower left areas of the canvas, giving the canvas that last bit of detail to make it even more interesting.

Just add some bling and pearls and you're set!

C'est Magnifique: My first September reveal!!

**For my August giveaway, please go HERE**

Hey there everyone :)~ it's my bedtime right now, but it seems these nights just keep getting later and later and then there's always more to do! The kids have been keeping me crazy busy! And there seems to be some sort of something going on all the time too...today, we had a baby chick hatch- which I wasn't prepared for. I've had some hens setting for close to a month now and was preparing to throw the eggs out by the end of the week- and here's this sweet little brown fluff ball, all tiny and new :). I love chickens- some of you might know that- but seriously, I do, lol. They really are a joy~

But I'm sure you didn't come here to talk poultry- so let's get down to business. I'm happy to be able to share with you my first layout using the ever-beautiful September kit from C'est Magnifique. This time we've got papers from Riddersholm Design out of Denmark...

"Paisley"
I cannot believe that my newest baby niece is over 3 months old already and this is my first time scrapping her! When I looked at the soft, pretty lavender shades in this kit, I knew it was the perfect match for a sweet little baby girl page. So here we are.
I LOVE bows, and to create the beautiful bow in the upper left corner of my photo, I simply took one of the Manor House Creations rosettes, unraveled it so that I had a single strip of fabric, doubled it up and tied my bow- voila!

Webster's Pages Blog Hop!!

Hello everyone!! Welcome to the Webster's Pages Blog Hop!! If you've come here from the beautiful Gerry's blog, then you're right on track! If not, head to the beginning of the hop HERE so that you can start from the beginning :).

Today is no ordinary Monday~ we're celebrating the much-anticipated shipping of two new collections from Webster's Pages: Park Drive & Once Upon A Halloween!! These are both just STUNNING collections- you definitely need to see them for yourselves. If you've been just loving what you've been seeing along this hop, then you definitely need to get in on the action :)~ you can place your order by visiting the Webster's Pages Store HERE!!

Now, since I was just recently added to the team, there was not enough time for me to get the opportunity to create with these new collections just yet, but I thought I'd share some inspiration with you anyway! I created this layout by combining three different Webster's Pages collections: Girl Land, Sunday Picnic, & Trendsetter:

"Attitude"

I seriously just LOVE how cohesive Webster's collections can be!!

Now, before I let you head out to the next stop, we were asked to share a little bit about WHY we scrap. I think that this is a question that has been asked of me many times, and I usually come up with the same answer: there are MANY reasons why I scrap! With 3 little kids, the days can sometimes run into each other, and I just don't want the little things to get lost- so I put them in writing while they're still on my mind and put a picture with the memory- so I can always go back to it and relive those moments that might otherwise get lost! And also- I love to create- it's my "outlet"- a way to express myself and just get those ideas out of my head and onto some paper :). It's so exciting to see what can just happen out of a simple thought- I love that :).

OKAY! So- how would you like to win some of these new goodies for yourself?! Well, there are SEVEN PRIZES hidden along the hop at different blogs- so just make sure to leave a comment at each of the blogs to increase your chance of winning!! The winners will be announced at the Webster's Pages blog on Friday, August 17th- so you will have to get your commenting in before Thursday is up!

Your next stop is the very talented EMELINE!!
